From developing an "experimental" iOS platform app in 2008, a directory of all the local food joints in Singapore, Buuuk has come a long way, developing game-changing apps like Klok, WeatherLah, NextRide, CleanLah. The Singapore-based design and development studio is a market leader in providing advanced digital solutions for Enterprise Mobility and digital transformation, assisting employees to do their jobs from anywhere using a variety of devices and applications.
Born out of Ambition
Correspondence of an industry report from the Enterprise Mobility Exchange (EME) observed that mobile applications dominated enterprise mobility spending in the last couple of years, with 62.5 percent of businesses investing in applications, and the trend shows no signs of decreasing. The EME claimed that the primary driver behind those investments was to increase productivity, as mentioned by 70 percent of the buyers.
Buuuk was "born out of ambition" finding these ways of increasing organizations’ productivity in areas (digital application landscape) that were generally neglected. The company was created solely for this purpose and not to fill up any market void or according to clients’ requirements. It was born because the founders wanted to build a hugely ambitious product that would transform the digital application landscape. They built a restaurant directory app of all the local food joints with information on opening times, facilities and numerous other features in 2008. This was the year when the iPhone just launched, and there was the massive iOS open platform. The app got noticed by the masses, leading to clients knocking on Buuuk’s door of innovation. This development occurred ten years ago. Buuuk’s unique approach and paramount quality of work attracted more attention over the years, and the experiment rapidly grew into a studio servicing some of the most significant clients in the Singapore market.
The design process is unique as every product is built from scratch for individual client projects. “The way we work with clients is quite crucial to the kinds of products that we deliver,” states Navjot Pawera, Director and Head of Design.
Unified Approach to Creating a Fusion of Innovation
Buuuk works very closely with clients; it tries to understand the requirements of the clients, including the clients’ hypothesis about the requirements on the specified product.
Every project at Buuuk is led by a focus on usability and plan to deliver efficient solutions
The design team works closely with clients to understand the clients’ approach towards the workflow issues, new ideas, and projects that need improvements. Once the pain points are discovered and recorded; that is when the Buuuk team comes up with prototypes. “We go back and test those solutions; we validate our assumptions. From there we iterate till we get to a point where the client is satisfied with solutions, and we are confident about the solution and then build the actual product thereon,” describes Pawera. It includes rigorous user research, expertise and a team for the User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design, app development, and server-side development. Every project at Buuuk is led by the highly skilled team, focusing on design and careful attention to detail.
The other crucial point about Buuuk developing these solutions is involving the clients in the procedure as acutely as possible. Buuuk starts every tailor-made solution with a “blank slate” and promotes the ideas with full client participation and visibility.
Giving the client complete visibility into the design processes, also helps the clients visualize the next phases of product development. Interacting closely with the clients helps the design team to incorporate new ideas. With this complex approach, the studio delivers an app with unique and innovative solutions with a friendly and usable interface for its clients.
For one such project, Buuuk developed an application for automating the sales process for Daimler. Daimler has distributors and sales team in different markets across Southeast Asia. For every market, every sale process is entirely different and unique. Daimler wanted to ensure that the sales team was updated with live information in their hands at any given time and also attain the ability to provide a higher class of sales experience to their customers. Buuuk was assigned a project spanning the Daimler sales force across major markets in Thailand, Australia, Korea, and Japan. It designed a workflow that was aimed directly at improving the company’s efficiency and sales delivery. Currently, Buuuk continues to optimize their sales tools to deliver an entirely new sales process.
Unfaltering Commitment towards Perfection
Buuuk has worked and cooperated with clients worldwide, providing unique web applications for every kind of workflow. Its services address both large enterprises and SMEs, including companies such as Mercedes Benz, Tupperware, DB Schenker, SingTel, Starhub, CapitaMalls, CapitaLand, and many more.
With numerous other success stories, Buuuk is now aiming to achieve the next technological breakthrough in UI/UX development using augmented reality, artificial intelligence, and blockchain. The company has just completed a project on blockchain, a crowd-sourcing platform for another client from Japan.
“All these three technologies and their implementation are changing the technological landscape. We try to have workshops with clients, helping them gain a detailed insight on all three of them and simplify its usages to improve an organization’s productivity and efficiency, their workflow, and introducing them with many newer innovations,” concludes Pawera.
